Australia Diamonds
Australia's netball team, the Diamonds: 12 World Cup titles, four Commonwealth golds, the rivalry with New Zealand, and how the domestic game feeds the side.
The Diamonds are the Australia national netball team, run by Netball Australia, and the most successful team in the sport's history. Australia won the very first Netball World Cup in 1963 and have won it more often than every other nation combined.

Australia have also been World Cup runners-up three times (1967, 2003 and 2019) and have medalled at every Commonwealth Games netball tournament since the sport joined the programme in 1998, most recently taking bronze at Glasgow 2026.
Hosting the World Cup
Australia hosted the World Cup in Perth in 1967 and in Sydney in 1991 and 2015, and are due to host again in Sydney in 2027 — the last edition before the tournament moves to a two-year cycle.
The rivalry with New Zealand
Australia's matches against the New Zealand Silver Ferns are the biggest fixture in international netball. The two nations met in every Commonwealth Games final from 1998 to 2014, and the 2010 final in Delhi — won by New Zealand in double extra time — is still remembered as one of the sport's great matches.
Where the players come from
Most Diamonds play their club netball in Suncorp Super Netball, one of the strongest domestic leagues in the world. The depth of that competition is often cited as a key reason for Australia's sustained success.
