Suncorp Super Netball
Suncorp Super Netball explained: Australia's top domestic netball league, its format, and its standing as one of the world's leading competitions.
Suncorp Super Netball is Australia's premier domestic netball competition, widely regarded as one of the strongest and most competitive netball leagues in the world, and consistently one of the best-attended women's sports competitions in Australia.
Format
The league features a fixed number of professional clubs based across Australia, competing through a regular season followed by a finals series to decide the premiership. It launched under its current sponsor name in 2017, succeeding an earlier trans-Tasman competition that had included New Zealand clubs.
Standing in world netball
Because of the strength and depth of Australian domestic netball, Suncorp Super Netball is often considered the highest standard of club netball globally, and a significant proportion of the Australian national team, the Diamonds, play their domestic netball in this league.
Where it sits in the sport
Suncorp Super Netball sits above state-level competitions in Australia's domestic structure and below full international selection — see history of netball for how competitions like this fit into the sport's broader development.
Where this page stops
This page covers the league's durable format and history, not current-season fixtures, standings or results — check the official Suncorp Super Netball site for that.
